オーナー、ドナルド・ブライアント Jr. が弁護士としての成功を収めた後、ナパ・ヴァレーの東側、アトラス・ピークとハウエル・マウンテンに挟まれたレイク・ヘネシーに面した北北西向きの斜面の標高２５０～３３０ｍにある５ｈａの区画を取得したのが１９８０年代後半。今でこそ注目を集めるこの地区、“プリチャード・ヒル”ですが、当時の有名どころはシャペレのみ。そのシャペレがかつて所有していた畑を取得すると、１００％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンをモダン・テクニック（台木、クローン、畝の方角、スペーシングなど）を駆使して植え替え、最新のワイナリーを建設し、試作を何年も繰り返した後、１９９２年に初ヴィンテージをリリースしました。
（プリチャード・ヒルでは、シャペレ、コルギン、デヴィッド・アーサー、そして近年ではロバート・モンダビの次男ティム・モンダビのコンティニュアムや注目の新星オーヴィッドが希少なプレミアム・ワインを造り出しています。またハーランの別ブランド、ボンドのメルバリーやクェラもこの近くの畑から造られています。）
１９９２年ワインメーカーにヘレン・ターリーが就任。９３年ヴィンテージはワイン・アドヴォケイト９７点、９４年は９８点。９６年はワイン・スペクテーターが１００点を付け（後に９５点に格下げ）、９７年はワイン・アドヴォケイトが１００点を付けました。まさにカルトワイン全盛期を牽引する華々しい評価を受けるトップ・ワイナリーとなりました。その後ワインメーカーは、フィリップ・メルカ、マーク・オベール、ロス・ウァランス、ヘレン・ケンブリンガーと錚々たるバトン・リレーが行われ、現在は長年アシスタントを務めてきたトッド・アレキザンダーがワインメーカーを務めています。２００２年より現在までミシェル・ロランがコンサルタントを務めています。ナパのトップ・ヴィンヤード・マネージャー、デヴィッド・エイブリューは畑植え替え当初を手掛けた後しばらく離れ、２０００年より復帰し、彼のチームが完璧な栽培管理を行っています。２００７年マーク・オベールが担当して以降、ロバート・パーカーとは正反対？なワインを好むアントニオ・ガローニをもってして、「究極のエレガンス This is a wine of extraordinary elegance 」と言わしめるワイン造りを続けています。

（この金額が妥当かどうかは別として・・・）とにかく世界で初めて正規輸出されたブライアント・ファミリーです・・・
５ｈａの自社畑は、レイク・ヘネシーを見下ろす北北西向きの急斜面はプリチャード・ヒルの中でも一番湖に近くその影響を強く受けます。湖を渡る冷たい西風が畑を冷やし、葡萄が過熟せず、長いハングタイムを持ち、酸を保ったまま完璧に完熟するようです。輸入元の社長に聞いたところ、「とにかくロケーションは最高。最高のワインが生まれるわけです。」とおっしゃっていました。
「比較的涼しい年であった２０１０年は、ブライアントの新しいスタイルを思わせる、究極のエレガントとフィネスを兼ね備える。決しておとなしいというわけではなく、ワインの内側に静脈のように、静かに、しかしながら凛として骨格を形成するミネラルが潜んでいる。長い熟成を経ても素晴らしいワインとなることを予想させる仕上がり。（輸入元コメント）」

Smoke, tar, incense and licorice are some of the many notes that emerge from the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an especially dark, brooding vintage for Bryant. Cassis, pencil shavings and melted road tar emerge later, adding further complexity and nuance. Unlike the 2009, there is little in the way of early appeal. On the other hand, I see the 2010 drinking beautifully for many many years. there is an underlying vein of minerality that gives the 2010 a sense of energy and focus. スーパー・ヴィンヤード・マネージャーのデヴィッド・エイブリューがハウエル・マウンテンに持つ自社畑と、セントヘレナ近郊に持つ２つの自社畑から葡萄は供給されます。ハウエル・マウンテンはルチア・エイブリュー・ヴィンヤードで、赤土の粘土土壌に密植されたカベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、カベルネ・フラン、メルロー、プティ・ヴェルド。力強い骨格のあるフルボディのワインを生み出します。セントヘレナは東斜面に位置するソレヴィロス・ヴィンヤードで、カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、カベルネ・フラン、プティ・ヴェルド。凝縮感たっぷりの黒い果実味のワインを生み出します。そして西斜面に位置するエイブリューのフラッグシップ畑のマドロナ・ランチで、カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、カベルネ・フラン、メルロー、プティ・ヴェルド。スパイシーで濃厚な赤い果実味のワインを生み出します。

The 2010 Bettina is drop dead gorgeous. Mint, clove, flowers, menthol and licorice are some of the many notes that burst from the glass. The 2010 is all about nuance, delineation and precision. There is a vibrancy to the 2010 that is simply striking. Dark blue and black fruit, balsamic notes, crushed rocks and pencil shavings are all layered into the powerful, minenal-infused finish. プリチャード・ヒルの自社畑のカベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンと、べティーナを造るデヴィッド・エイブリューの３つの畑から、それぞれのファーストワインを選び抜いた後のキュヴェを厳選して造られます。２００４年初リリース時はカベルネのみでしたが、べティーナがリリースされてからはミシェル・ロランのコンサルタントの元、他のボルドー品種がアッサンブラージュされました。
まさにブライアントのエスプリをお手頃価格？で充分に感じさせるワインです。生産量は少なく希少品です。私もカルトワインのセカンドの中ではこれが一番好きです。

The 2010 DB4 is insanely beautiful. Crushed rocks, plums, cinnamon and licorice jump from the glass from this striking, delineated wine. In 2010, the DB4 has a level of pure energy and vibrancy that is missing in the 2009, most likely because it also includes declassified lots from the Bettina. This is great showing from Don Bryant and his team. In most cellars, the DB4 would be the top wine, but here it is the second label. Top flight Napa Cabernet is seldom inexpensive, but this is just about as good as it gets for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. – Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate #204 –

３０年以上に亘り、トップ・ヴィンヤード・マネージャーとしてトップ・ワイナリーの葡萄栽培に携わるデヴィッド・エイブリュー。彼は３代続くラザフォードの育ちで、夏休みにはケイマスやイングルヌックでアルバイトをしていました。長じて彼の対象は葡萄栽培となり、ＵＣデイヴィスに入学。１９８０年にデヴィッド・エイブリュー・ヴィンヤード・マネージメント社を設立しました。
エイブリューのフラッグシップ・ワインがこのマドロナ・ランチから造られるカベルネです。セントヘレナ、スプリング・マウンテンの麓にある２３エーカーの畑で、スポッツウッドのバドウッドから誕生しました。１９８５年、８６年にカベルネとメルローを植樹。ファースト・ヴィンテージは１９８７年です。２００８年は５５％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、３７％カベルネ・フラン、４％プティ・ヴェルド、４％メルローです。樽は１００％新樽のタランソー、シルヴァインなどを使用。

The 2008 Madrona Ranch opens with an incredibly expressive bouquet. Espresso, mocha and licorice meld into dark red fruit and sweet exotic spices in this superb wine. The 2008 is an extraordinarily polished, refined wine for the vintage. Sweet spiced and floral notes reappear to round out the finish. The relatively high percentage of Cabernet Franc (37%), comes through in spades here. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Cabernet Franc, 4% petit Verdot and 4% Merlot. ２００７年ヴィンテージでパーカー１００点を獲得した「ダナ」です。オーナーは韓国出身のリー父子で、韓国の名家です。ダナはナパ・ヴァレーにヘルムズ、ロータス、ハーシーの３つの畑を所有します（ロータスの２００７年カベルネがパーカー１００点を獲得しました）。ワインメーカーは、ナパでトップの人気と実力を持つフィリップ・メルカです。ハンドレッド・エーカーでもパーカー１００点を獲得しています。ダナは、昨年のプリミエール・ナパ・ヴァレー・オークションで（６０本）７万ドルの最高価格で落札され、ニュースターとして完全に認知されました。
ロータス、ヘルムズ共に１００％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンです。ダナのフラッグシップ、ロータスは３０％をコンクリート製卵型容器で１年熟成後、フレンチオーク新樽で１５ヶ月熟成。７０％の最初からフレンチオーク新樽で２７ヶ月熟成させたキュヴェとブレンド。共に２０年から２５年の熟成が期待されます。２００９年ロータスは、タランソー他のフレンチオーク（１００％新樽）にて２７ヶ月熟成。生産量はわずか１９６ケースです。ヘルムズはフレンチオーク新樽にて１９ヶ月熟成。
オンダ・ドーロはダナのセカンドワインです。イタリア語で“黄金の波”を意味します。２０１０年韓国でのＧ２Ｏ公式晩餐会にサーブされました。
A rich, sensual wine, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Lotus Vineyard captures the best qualities of the vintage. Layers of dark red fruit, kirsch, sweet spices, tobacco and herbs saturate the palate as this large-scaled, voluptuous wine opens up in the glass. There is a purity and centeredness to the 2009 that is striking. At the same time, the tannnins aren’t quite as polished as they are in the very best wines here. Overall, though, that is a pretty small critique for a wine that delivers so much pure pleasure. Exotic spice and kirsch notes reappear on the finish. The 2009 was fermented in acombination of 45% oak uprights, 45% cement and 10% barriques. It spent 26 months in 100% new French oak barrels. The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Lotus Vineyard emerges from glass with an attractive, floral bouquet. Dark red fruit, leather, spices and tabacco flow gracefully to the seamless, elegant finish. This is a very typical, open 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. – Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate #198 –
The 2007 was pure perfection and the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Lotus Vineyard is another impressive effot (about 200 cases produced). Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Clone 337, 4 and 15, this is a relatively high elevation (1,200 feet) site and because of that, the wine shows lots of minerality and freshness. Expansive black currant and blackberry notes intermixed with graphite and flower aromas are followed by a full-bodied wine with structure, density and purity. This 2008 requires 4-5 years of cellaring and can be enjoyed over the following two decades. – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #192 –
There are 312 cases of the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Helms Vineyard, which has put on considerable weight since last year. Its dense purple color is accompanied by a glorious nose of dusty, loamy soil notes intermixed with black raspberry, black currant, camphor and subtle spicy oak. Deep, rich and full-bodied with velvety tannins and a long finish, it should drink wll for 20-25 years. – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #192 –

オーナーは、ＰＣソフトウェア業界で検索プラットフォームのメーカーとして有名なマーク・ネルソンとダナ・ジョンソンです。帝政ローマ初期の詩人オヴィディウスの名前を冠しました。オーヴィッドの自社畑はオークヴィルを見渡すナパ・ヴァレー東の１，４００フィートに位置する１５エーカーの畑です。
栽培管理はナパのトップ・ヴィンヤード・マネージャーのデヴィット・エイブリュー、ワインメーカーはスクリーミング・イーグルのワインメーカーを務め、２００７年ヴィンテージでパーカー１００点を獲得した注目のアンディ・エリクソン、コンサルタントはご存じミシェル・ロランという、ナパ最高の布陣です。
２００９年は、５８％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、３０％カベルネ・フラン、８％メルロー、４％プティ・ヴェルドです。フランの比率が高くなり、暖かくかつスパイシーなブーケが魅力的で、ゴージャスで、完璧なバランスとストラクチャーを持ちます。２００８年は、６５％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、２３％カベルネ・フラン、９％メルロー、３％プティ・ヴェルドです。オーヴィッドは３０以上のキュヴェを別々に熟成し、ブレンド後さらに熟成。瓶詰め後１年の瓶熟成を経て出荷されます。
This operation has elicited considerable acclaim, given the talent involved. First of all is the terroir, a stunning location high on Pritchard Hill, a neighborhood filled with Napa superstars, such as Colgin, Bryant Family, Continuum, David Arthur, and Del Dotto. Add to that the level of talent – winemaker Andy Erickson, consultant Michel Rolland, viticulturalist David Abreu – and the result is essentially a think-tank of world-class quality.
The 2009 Ovid is stunningly beautiful. At times it shows a little more depth, power and richness than the Hexameter, but both wines are compelling. Endless layers of fruit saturate the palate as this rich, intense wine conquers the heart and intellect. A totally vivid wine, the 2009 is even more impressive from bottle than it was from barrel. Over the time I followed it, the 2009 gained finesse and elegance in the glass, which bodes quite well for the future. Intense graphite, crushed rocks, pencil shaving nuances add energy to the polished, huge finish. The blend is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. The 2009 Ovid is a gorgeous, radiant wine endowed with expressive character. Here the higher percentage of Cabernet Franc (30%) in the final blend comes through in the warm, spicy notes of the bouquet. The 2009 boasts striking inner perfume, great intensity and fabulous overall balance in the dazzling, pure expression of fruit. Layers of fruit build effortlessly to the finish. The 2009 started to shut down in the glass, a great sign for the future. There is no shortage of structure here. The 2009 Ovid is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. – Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate #198 –
the 2008 Ovid is a slightly more restrained and marginally lighter version of the 2007. Still, it is a delicious, full-throttle, multi-dimensional wine, with loads of red, blue and black fruits and hints of camphor and grahite as well as forest floor notes in a medium-bodied, restrained, but impressively authoritative style to drink over the next 15 or more years. – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #192 –
