今最も注目を浴びるワインメーカー、トーマス・リヴァー・ブラウン。シュレイダー、ハンドレッド・エーカー、アウトポスト、マイバッハ、レヴァーナ、ジョーンズ・ファミリーなど１５社のワインメーカー＆コンサルタントを務めます。その彼が妻ジュヌヴィエーヴ・マリー・ウェルシュと自分の名前を冠して造り上げるのが「リヴァース・マリー」。シャルドネとピノ・ノワールはすでに日本入荷していますが、この度彼の得意分野であるカベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンが入荷しました。今や世界最高峰のカベルネ・プロデューサーであるトーマス・リヴァー・ブラウン。パーカー１００点を連発したシュレイダーならかるく６～８万円。自身のレーベルだからこその価格です。
ナパ・ヴァレー・カベルネは、１００％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン。２つの畑のブレンドで、パネク・ヴィンヤード主体で、パレット・ヴィンヤードを少量ブレンド。シングル・ヴィンヤードも生産しているパネク・ヴィンヤードはセントヘレナ北部、ターリー・ワイン・セラーズの北に位置し、クローン６主体。パレット・ヴィンヤードはセントヘレナ市街地の西、ベクストファー・ヴィンヤーズが所有する優良畑ドクター・クレインの畑に隣接する畑で、１８６３年に植樹された歴史ある畑。同じヴァレー・フロアーの葡萄を合わせているため、そのジューシーさは傑出していますが、タイトに仕上がり、内に力強さや凝縮感をしっかりと持っています。フレンチオーク（５０％新樽）にて１８ヶ月熟成で、生産量３５０ケース。コロナ・カベルネは、１００％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン。オークヴィルの西斜面からマウント・ヴィーダーへ進む道沿いに位置します。ベクストファーのトゥー・カロンやハーラン・エステートがある絶好のロケーションです（ハーランより高い標高にある）。ナパでも秀逸なカベルネの産地から、その名にたがわない果実味、酸、タンニン、全てにバランスしたワインに仕上がっています。長い熟成の可能性を持つ。フレンチオーク（７５％新樽）にて１８ヶ月熟成で、生産量２００ケース。パネク・ヴィンヤードは、１００％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン。ナパ・カベルネの主体ともなっているため、最上級の樽のみがこのカベルネに使われます。糖度が上がるだけでなく、じっくりと全ての要素が完熟します。濃厚なチョコやキャラメルのニュアンス、ブルーベリー、プラム。ですが、非常にタイトに仕上げ、アロマに特徴を残しながら決して甘くだれたワインには仕上げていません。秀逸な酸が存在し、見事なバランスを取っています。熟成の可能性が非常に高い（１０～２０年可能）。フレンチオーク（７５％新樽）にて１８ヶ月熟成で、生産量２５０ケース。ナパ・カベルネとシングル・ヴィンヤードのラベルは異なります。
The opaque purple-hued 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Crona Vineyard, from gravely, stony soils in the western Oakville hills, is the most intense, massive, structured and tannic wine of this group. Aged in 75% new oak (250 cases produced), it offers up notes of licorice, graphite, vanillin, baking spices, blueberries and blackberries along with stupendous extract, richness and structure. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Panek Vineyard (14,4% alcohol) was aged in 70% new oak. Made from four Cabernet clones (Clones 169, 7, 4 and 6), it comes from a vineyard on the valley floor at the end of the Aida vineyard that Vineyards 29 has made famous. Copious notes of earth, charcoal embers, wet gravel, garrigue, blackberry and blackcurrants are accompanied by a long, deep wine with sweet tannins, a fabulous mouthfeel, an opulent, velvety texture, and tremendous length as well as richness. ２００６年、２００７年、２００８年３年連続パーカー１００点を獲得したシュレイダーの「オールド・スパーキー（電気椅子）」です。１００％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンで、クローン４、６、３３７を使用。ムートンなどが使用する、ボルドーでもベストとされるフランス産の樽、ダナジュー Darnajou の１００％新樽で熟成されます。オールド・スパーキーはマグナムだけの生産です。２０１０年はトゥー・カロンのブロックＤ２のクローン６だけの使用です。

今や”カルトの新帝王”と言われる「スケアクロウ」です。２００３年ヴィンテージでデビュー、２００７年でパーカー１００点満点を獲得しました。ハリウッドで活躍した祖父に敬意を表して、「オズの魔法使い」のキャラクターから命名しました。ナパの歴史ある畑、コーン・エステートのオールドマン（ナパ最古の古樹）を含めた、ラザフォード８ヶ所の畑の葡萄を使用。１００％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンで、フレンチオーク（９０％新樽）にて熟成。アンフィルター＆アンファイン。ワインメーカーは３大女性醸造家（ヘレン・ターリー、ミア・クライン、ハイジ・バレット）の後を担う“ナパの新女神”セリア・ウエルチです。
そのスケアクロウのセカンド的存在のワインがムッシュ・エタンです。「オズの魔法使い」のブリキ男の名前を冠したワインです。１００％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンで、スケアクロウと同じ自社畑の樹齢の若い葡萄を使用。ロットに分けて発酵後フレンチオークにて１０ヶ月の熟成。その後ブレンドして樽に戻し、さらに８ヶ月の熟成。ちなみに２０１２年スケアクロウはパーカー９８点です。
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon M. Etain is in essence a second wine, but it sure doesn’t taste like one. ハリウッドでの生活からワイン生産者になったダグ・バーとブルース・オズロの「ハリウッド＆ヴァイン」です。ＵＣデイヴィスのメイナード・アメリン教授に敬意を表して命名した２４８０です。１００％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンで、フレンチバレルで熟成後、小さなオーク樽に移しさらに熟成させます。数字の２４８０だけが描かれた印象的なボトルです。以前日本にスポット入荷がありましたが、お問い合わせの多い人気ワインでした。
そして、セリア・ウエルチさん自身のブランド「コーラ（コッラ）」です。２５年以上ナパ・ヴァレーでワイン造りに携わってきたセリア・ウエルチが満を持して２００４年に自らのブランドを立ち上げました。コーラはケルト神話で予言を司る女神の名前で、鶴の姿で現世に姿を現すと言われます（ラベルに鶴のデザイン）。ナパ・ヴァレーの様々な個性溢れる土地を知り尽くすセリア・ウエルチがセレクトした葡萄は、プリチャード・ヒル、ラザフォード、オークヴィルの畑から。

パーカー１００点を獲得したスクリーミング・イーグル、ダラ・ヴァレ・マヤを生み出した、”ナパ・ヴァレーの女神”と称されるハイジ・バレットと、レストラン事業展開会社のオーナー、ジョン・シュワルツのジョイント・ヴェンチャーとして誕生した「アミューズ・ブーシュ」です。
カリフォルニアでは珍しいメルローとカベルネ・フランからなるポムロール・スタイルのワインは、ポムロールの巨頭シャトー・ペトリュスやシャトー・ルパンをライバルと見なし、品質へのあくなき追求を続けています。２００２年の初プロデュース以来ラベルの美しさと、ハイジが造り出すエレガントな味わいにより瞬く間にコレクター垂涎のワインになりました。
最新ヴィンテージの２０１２年が入荷しました。２０１２年のラベルは、パリ在住のフランス人画家マルク・クラウザードの作品「Le Bar a Vin」です。マルク・クラウザードは１９５７年生まれで、父方も母方も祖母は１９３０年代にフランスの有名ファッション・ブランドでデザイナーを務めるなど、芸術とファッションに造詣の深い家庭で育ちました。９５％メルロー、５％カベルネ・フランで、フレンチオークのタランソー、ラドゥー、ガンバで熟成。２０１４年３月瓶詰め。生産量は５７５ケース。
２０１１年のラベルは、ハイジの母ダイアン・ピーターソンの作品で、「イチゴとワイン」です。ダイアンは１９５５年にアメリカに帰化してから５０年以上のキャリアを持つ芸術家で、その作品は各国の美術館に収蔵されています。９６％メルロー、４％カベルネ・フランで、タランソー、ラドゥー、ガンバで熟成。生産量は５６０ケースです。
２０１０年のラベルは、ハリウッドの大御所スター、トニー・カーチスの作品です。代表作「お熱いのがお好き」「スパルタカス」などをはじめ１３０本以上の映画に出演しました。彼は６０年代から絵を描いていました。彼の作品はニューヨーク近代美術館にも収蔵されるほどのクオリティーを持ちます。ラベルは「果実」です。９３％メルロー、７％カベルネ・フランで、タランソー、ラドゥー、ガンバで熟成。生産量は５７５ケースです。

３０年以上に亘り、トップ・ヴィンヤード・マネージャーとしてトップ・ワイナリーの葡萄栽培に携わるデヴィッド・エイブリュー。彼は３代続くラザフォードの育ちで、夏休みにはケイマスやイングルヌックでアルバイトをしていました。長じて彼の対象は葡萄栽培となり、ＵＣデイヴィスに入学。１９８０年にデヴィッド・エイブリュー・ヴィンヤード・マネージメント社を設立しました。
「エイブリュー」のフラッグシップ・ワインがこのマドロナ・ランチから造られるカベルネです。セントヘレナ市街地の西、スプリング・マウンテンの麓にある２３エーカーの畑（１０の区画）で、スポッツウッドのバドウッドから誕生しました。１９８５年、８６年にカベルネとメルローを植樹。ファースト・ヴィンテージは１９８７年です。２０１０年は、５２％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、３４％カベルネ・フラン、８％プティ・ヴェルド、６％メルローです。樽は１００％新樽のタランソー、シルヴァインなどを使用。４つのキュヴェをブレンドして、１５のバレルに移し、さらに熟成させました。２４回目のヴィンテージで、生産量は僅か３００ケースです。１９９７年、２００１年、２００２年でパーカー１００点獲得。
ロズウェル・ハイドは、エイブリューの３ヶ所の自社畑をブレンドしたマルチ・ヴィンヤード・ワインです。２００１年から少量生産しています。「慎重に葡萄樹ごとに果実の味わいを吟味して選び、畑ごとに混醸することで、ダイナミックでありながら、極めて優美で純度が高くバランスのとれたワインが出来上がる」という方法論と醸造哲学を実践するエイブリューのエステート・ワインです。２００９年は５４％マドロナ・ランチ、３８％カペラ、８％ソレヴィロスから。４５％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、２１％メルロー、２０％カベルネ・フラン、１４％プティ・ヴェルドで、フレンチオークにて１８ヶ月の熟成後ブレンドしてさらに６ヶ月の熟成。
数々の銘醸ワインを生み出してきたベクストファーのヴィンヤード。トゥーカロン、ドクター・クレイン、ジョルジュⅢなどを所有します。そのベクストファー・ヴィンヤーズが初めて自社醸造のワインをリリースしました。衝撃のデビュー作がこちら。
ベクストファー・ボーンはベクストファーにとって最も最近入手した畑。ゴールドラッシュ時代に開拓され、禁酒法前から葡萄が栽培されていたセントヘレナの西斜面に位置する伝説の区画「Hayne」の元の所有者 William Bower Bourn の名前にちなみ命名。ラリー・タリーが造るプティ・シラー（樹齢６０年以上）として有名です。ワインメーカーはボルドー出身のブノワ・トゥケ。ワイン名は現社長デヴィット・ベクストファー自身も行う空手の「型」から。ファースト・ヴィンテージ２０１１年は、８５％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、１５％プティ・ヴェルドです。
The 2010 Madrona Ranch, which David Abreu told me he crop-thinned by at least 50%, is a more backward, tannic, brooding wine at present. An inky/purple color and lots of baking spice, espresso, black and blue fruits, and hints of graphite and toast emerge from this wine as well as formidable tannins in the finish. However, the tannins are sweet and well-integrated in this big, blockbuster effort. ２０１２年ＵＶ・ヴィンヤードは９回目のヴィンテージです。ＵＶは、ソノマ・コーストを知り尽くすヴィンヤード・マネージャー、ウリセス・ヴァルディズ Ulises Valdez の頭文字です。この畑はソノマ・コーストAVA の中央部ルシアン・リヴァー・ヴァレーに近く、自社畑のローレンやＣＩＸと同様にオベールのシングル・ヴィンヤード・ピノらしく力強く、独特のテロワールを強く感じさせる個性があります。２０１２年の凝縮した味わいを際立たせるため、フレンチオークの新樽率を低く、樽の焼き加減を抑え、樽熟期間を短くしました。まろやかな味わいと洗練されたあまやかなタンニンが魅力的なワインです。１０～１５年の熟成が可能です。
２０１２年ＵＶ－ＳＬ・ヴィンヤードも９回目のヴィンテージです。ＵＶ－ＳＬは、ソノマ・コーストを知り尽くすヴィンヤード・マネージャー、ウリセス・ヴァルディズ Ulises Valdez が所有する畑ストーツ・レーン Stoez Lane からのピノ・ノワールです。頭文字からＵＶ－ＳＬと表示されます。この畑はソノマ・コースト AVA の中西部オキシデンタル地区に位置する、冷涼な地方にある暖かいスポットにあります。鉄の多い土壌は強い個性の長期熟成に向く葡萄を、ゴールド・リッジ土壌はリッチで肉感的なテクスチャーを持つ葡萄を作り出します。２０１２年ＵＶ－ＳＬも凝縮した味わいを際立たせるため、フレンチオークの新樽率を低く、樽の焼き加減を抑え、樽熟期間を短くしました。豊潤さと骨格の圧倒的なバランスに穏やかなタンニンが寄り添います。１０～１５年の熟成が可能です。
Even better is the 2012 Pinot Noir UV. Made from Calera and Vosne-Romanee clones, ie exhibits opulent notes of blueberries, blackraspberries, graphite, forest floor and unsmoked cigar tabacco. Lastly, an exceptional perfume of rose petals, loamy soil, raspberries, blueberries and spring flowers jump from the glass of the 2012 Pinot Noir UV-SL. Primarily Carela clonal material with some Vosne-Romanee suitcase clone, it was fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged 12 months prior to being assembled in tank and then bottled without fining and filtration. Aubert’s 2011 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast) is surprisingly rich and voluptuous for the year. Butter, pears, flowers, apricots and mango are well woven together in the glass. ご存じカリフォルニア・シャルドネ５本指の１つ、コングスガード。ザ・ジャッジは自社畑から造られますが、ナパ・シャルドネはカーネロスのグランクリュ畑のハドソンとハイドのブレンドです（通常ハドソンが２/３、ハイドが１/３）。約１，０００ケースの生産（ちなみにザ・ジャッジは約３００ケースの生産）。
「コングスガードのワイン全般に言えることは、ナパ・ヴァレーのワインがこうあるべきという姿を十分に表現できたヴィンテージとなった。凝縮しながら酸と果実とアルコールが見事にバランスしている。これはワインが仕上がる前に、収穫した時から確信していた。さらに樽の中で進化し続け、仕上がったワインは豪華に花開くものとなった。２２ヶ月の長い樽発酵・熟成をゆっくり終え、リッチな果実の凝縮感、長い樽発酵・樽熟成の個性がリリースした今からもう見事に発揮されている。コルクを開けるのが待ち遠しくてたまらない逸品に仕上がっている。パーカーは『ゴージャスでフルボディの中に新鮮な酸が生き生きしている。』とコメント。タンザーは『このバランスたるや感動に値する。』と。生き生きとしたミネラルと酸がオレンジのニュアンスを思わせ、クリーミーでリッチ、ヘーゼルナッツ、ハニー、トロピカル・フルーツが複雑に存在する。（ジョン・コングスガード）」
コングスガード、キスラー、レミーなどのカリフォルニア・トップシャルドネに葡萄を供給するナパ・ヴァレー、カーネロスのグランクリュ畑ハドソン・ヴィンヤード。オーナーであり、栽培家もあるロバート・リー・ハドソン氏が今年４月に来日しました。
オールド・マスターはこの２０１１年が初リリース。リー・ハドソンが一番お気に入りの区画からの究極のワインです。リー・ハドソンが１９８１年に購入した土地は約８００ｈａで、現在でもそのほとんどは森林状態です。そのうち畑は僅か８０ｈａです。主にハドソンのワインに使われるのは、ワイナリーの近くに位置するホーム・ランチ（南部）とヘンリー・ロード・ランチ（北部）という畑の葡萄です。オールド・マスターはホーム・ランチの「Ｄ」という区画から。
この「Ｄ」という区画はあるワイナリーに供給していた区画ですが、諸事情のため契約が切れ、他の契約者を見つけるより、自分自身が惚れ込んでいる区画のため、リー・ハドソンはハドソン・ワインとして自らがワインを造ることを決意しました。６０％メルロー、４０％カベルネ・フランです。

The 2010 Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard Cuvee Cathleen emerges from a single block within the Kistler Vineyard. Here the flavors are bright, nuanced and highly articulated, in stark contrast with the Kistler Vineyard. Today, the Cuvee Cathleen gives the impression of the being almost weightless on the palate. Crushed rocks and a host of saline notes underpin the gorgeous finish. My sense is that the 2010 will blossom even more with additional time in bottle. The 2009 Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard Cuvee Cathleen, from Wente clone, saturates the palate with honey, yellow flowers, marzipan, tangerine and apricots. It possesses stunning depth and intensity, along with persistent saline notes that add lift on the creamy , expansive finish. The Cuvee Cathleen is considerably richer than the straight kistler Vineyard. Both are striking; which one readers ultimately prefer is strictly personal preference. The 2009 Pinot Noir Occidental Station Cuvee Catherine is flat-out beautiful. All of the elements are in the right place in this majestic, towering Pinot. Layers of fruit emerge gracefully in a wine that seems to never end. The Finest, silkiest of tannins frame the fruit through to the exceptional, sensual finish. This kalei-doscopic, marvelously complete wine is a stunning effort from Steve Kistler and his team. The wine continnues to open up in the glass in a fabulous display of class and elegance. The 2009 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Cuvee Elizabeth comes across as a bit firmer and less expensive than the Cuvee Catherine. There is a salty, saline quality that runs through the fruit in this powerful, structured wine. Waves of frruit crescendo on the explosive finish. This is a dazzling Pinot Noir, but it will require at least another year or two in bottle to reveal its pedigree. I loved it. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. – Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate #199 -
The 2007 Pinot Noir Cuvee Natalie Silver Belt, which emanates from a Sonoma Coast Vineyard, is made from a 50/50 blend of the Swan and Calera heritage California clone. Sweet notes of balsam wood, black raspberries, spring flowers as well as hints of cherry and blueberry are all present in this dark, profoundly rich , broad, and savory Pinot Noir. It is well-built, although still backward and needing several years of bottle-age, but it should evolve for10-15 years. – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #180 –

Flirting with perfection, the 2007 Chardonnay Marcassin Estate is a prodigious offering of compelling intensity, minerality, and flavor depth and dimension. An amazing bouquet of poached pears, lemon butter, crushed rocks, and waxy notes intermixed with background hints of spring flowes and a liqueur of stones is followed by a full-bodied wine whose oak component is completely obliterated by the fruit concentration, texture, and depth. This amazing, yet tightly-knit Chardonnay should hit its peak in 2-3 years, and last for 15 or more (the 1998, which was not as strong as this 2007 at the same age, is at its plateau of full maturity with many years of life ahead of it). – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #187 –
The 2007 Pinot Noir Marcassin Estate possesses a dense plum/purple color in addition to a big, sweet kiss of spring flowers, forest floor, strawberries, black cherries, fresh porcini mushrooms, raspberries, and soy. Dense, full-bodied, meaty, and fleshy, with high tannins, very good acidity, and formidable intensity, this wine is built for ages. Utterly perfect, the 2008 Chardonnay Marcassin Estate is a dead-ringer for the 2007, but slightly richer and longer, as hard as that may be to believe. This extraordinary effort is unquestionably the “Chardonnay of the Vintage”. In fact, it may be the “Chardonnay of the Decade”. カルトの中のカルト、「ブライアント・ファミリー」です。オーナー、ドナルド・ブライアント Jr. が弁護士としての成功を収めた後、ナパ・ヴァレーの東側、アトラス・ピークとハウエル・マウンテンに挟まれたレイク・ヘネシーに面した北北西向きの斜面の標高２５０～３３０ｍにある５ｈａの区画を取得したのが１９８０年代後半。１９９２年に初ヴィンテージをリリースしました。ワインメーカーはヘレン・ターリー。その後もフィリップ・メルカ、マーク・オベールなどの一流のワインメーカーに引き継がれています。
（この金額が妥当かどうかは別として・・・）とにかく世界で初めて正規輸出された「ブライアント・ファミリー」です。ドナルド・ブライアントの妻の名を冠した「べティーナ」。べティーナは、かの有名なアメリカン・バレー・シアターのバレリーナ出身。現在副社長を務める彼女が精魂を込めて造り出す究極のナパ・ヴァレー・レッド・ブレンドです。２００９年がファースト・ヴィンテージです。そして、ブライアント・ファミリーのエスプリを充分に感じるセカンドワイン「ＤＢ４」。ＷＡ誌にてカリフォルニア・スーパー・セカンドのトップ７に選出されました。
（２０１２年１２月アントニオ・ガローニによって９６＋点を付けられたブライアントのカベルネですが、１０月にパーカー再評価により９９点に格上げされました。９７＋点を付けられたべティーナは残念ながら９５点に格下げになりました。）
Smoke, tar, incense and licorice are some of the many notes that emerge from the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an especially dark, brooding vintage for Bryant. Cassis, pencil shavings and melted road tar emerge later, adding further complexity and nuance. Unlike the 2009, there is little in the way of early appeal. On the other hand, I see the 2010 drinking beautifully for many many years. there is an underlying vein of minerality that gives the 2010 a sense of energy and focus. Teasing the taster with a possible three-digit perfection is the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill. This beaty shows lots of crème de cassis, blueberry liqueur, spring flower and forest floor notes in an opulent, full-bodied, powerful, dense, rich style buttressed by significant ripe tannins and decent acidity. Again, the striking purity and singular character of this Bryant Cabernet Sauvignon, rivaling their 1997, but slightly more structured. The 2010 Bettina exhibits abundant notes of graphite, charcoal, blackberries and espresso roast along with fabulous fruit concentration and an unctuously textured, full-bodied mouthfeel with great definition and richness. こちらもパーカー１００点生産者の「キャプサンディ・ファミリー」です。ルー・キャプサンディはナパ・カベルネのトップに君臨するべリンジャーのプライベート・リザーブ・カベルネに使用されていた畑、ステート・レーン・ヴィンヤードを２０００年に購入しワインを造り始めました。この畑の再開発、そして醸造に携わったのがカリフォルニア最強の夫婦、ヘレン・ターリーとジョン・ウェットローファーです。２００７年からは親子３代に亘りシャトー・ラトゥールのセラーマスターを務めたデニス・マルベック（１９９４年から９９年までラトゥール）がコンサルタントとして参加しています。
ロベルタズは、ルー・キャプサンディ当主の奥様の名前です。９６％メルロー、４％カベルネ・フランで、フレンチオーク（８０％新樽）にて２０ヶ月熟成です。ポムロールスタイルのワインで、生産量は２６０ケースです。ちなみに２００８年はパーカー９９点（日本未入荷）。ステート・レーンのグラン・ヴァン・カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンは２００７年、そして２００８年と、２年連続でパーカー１００点を獲得。２００９年は８７％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、５％メルロー、５％カベルネ・フラン、３％プティ・ヴェルドで、フレンチオーク（９０％新樽）にて２０ヶ月熟成。凝縮感と複雑味、そして美しさを持つワインで、生産量４８０ケースです。
The 2009 Roberta’s Reserve shows quite a bit more intensity, length and focus than the 2008 I tasted alongside it. Dark red fruit, flowers, licorice and new leather are some of the notes that take sharp in the glass. The 2009 boasts incredible depth and centeredness from start to finish. There is a crystalline purity and richness in the 2009 that is hugely appealing. The 2009 is 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc that spent 20 months in French oak, 80% new. The 2009 Roberta’s Reserve (14,2% alcohol), a luxury Merlot-based win, is composed of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. It possesses copious amounts of melted chocolate, fudge, espresso roast, black cherry, plum and Asian spice characteristics that hit the palate with a full- bodied crescendo, wonderful opulence and a juicy, succulent, voluptuous texture. The 2009 Cabernet sauvignon-Gran Vin opens with a rush of dark red fruit, flowers, spices, new leather and licorice. it is an extremely classy wine graced with exceptional length and tons of polish. The intensity tapers off just a touch on the mid-palate and finish. Readers who prefer a bigger style will probably gravitate towards the 2007 or 2008, but it would be a shame to miss out on the 2009. The blend is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc, aged 20 months in 100% French oak barrels, 90% new. Anticipated Maturity: 2014-2024. – Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate #198 -
The more closed but potentially greater 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Vin State Lane Vineyard is a 480-case blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot and Cabernet franc. It dense ruby/purple color is followed by notes of licorice, crème de cassis, camphor and subtle toast. Full-bodied and concentrated, it reprsents 15% of the total Kapcsandy production. The wine finished with 13,7% alcohol, which in these days is relatively low, although the alcohol levels were down in 2009 through 2011 because because of the color, less ripe year. – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #209 -

プリチャード・ヒルの新星カルト「オーヴィッド」です。オーナーは、ＰＣソフトウェア業界で検索プラットフォームのメーカーとして有名なマーク・ネルソンとダナ・ジョンソンです。帝政ローマ初期の詩人オヴィディウスの名前を冠しました。オーヴィッドの自社畑はオークヴィルを見渡すナパ・ヴァレー東の１，４００フィートに位置する１５エーカーの畑です。栽培管理はナパのトップ・ヴィンヤード・マネージャーのデヴィット・エイブリュー、ワインメーカーはスクリーミング・イーグルのワインメーカーを務めた注目のアンディ・エリクソン、コンサルタントはご存じミシェル・ロランという、ナパ最高の布陣です。
オーヴィッドのセパージュは一般公開されていません。２００８年は、６５％カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、２３％カベルネ・フラン、９％メルロー、３％プティ・ヴェルドです。３０以上のキュヴェを別々に熟成し、ブレンド後さらに熟成。瓶詰め後１年の瓶熟成を経て出荷されます。
This operation has elicited considerable acclaim, given the talent involved. First of all is the terroir, a stunning location high on Pritchard Hill, a neighborhood filled with Napa superstars, such as Colgin, Bryant Family, Continuum, David Arthur, and Del Dotto. Add to that the level of talent – winemaker Andy Erickson, consultant Michel Rolland, viticulturalist David Abreu – and the result is essentially a think-tank of world-class quality.
Sweet dark cherries and plums are some of the notes that explode from 2010 Ovid. An utterly, breathtaking wine, the 2010 impresses for its incredible balance and overall sense of harmony. Flowers of all sorts, sage and rosemary develop in the glas, adding tons of complexity. Today the 2010 is a little reticent next to the decidedly more exuberant 2009, which is quite typical of wines from Pritchard Hill at this stage in the evolution of these vintages. Power, pure vibrancy and intensity are the hallmarks of the 2010. This is another stunning wine from the team at Ovid. I can’t wait to see how the 2010 develops in bottle. The 2009 Ovid is stunningly beatiful. At times it shows a little more depth, power and richness than the Hexameter, but both wines ae compelling. Endless layers of fruit saturate the palate as this rich, intense wine conquers the heart and intellect. A totally vivid wine, the 2009 is even more impressive from bottle than it was from barrel. Over the time I followed it, the 2009 gained finesse and elegance in the glass, which bodes quite well for the future. Intense graphite, crushed rocks and pencil sharving nuances add energy to the polished, huge finish. The blend is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and 4%Petit Verdot. The 2008 Ovid is a slightly more restrained and marginally lighter version of the 2007. The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a slightly more brooding and formidably endowed effort displaying more extract, tannin and structure. In spite of its massive size, concentration and extract, it possesses gorgeously sweet tannins as well as a sense of equilibrium. カリフォルニア最初のボルドースタイルワイン（メリテージュ）である、ジョセフ・フェルプスのフラッグシップ「インシグニア」です。２００９年はワイン・アドヴォケイト（ガローニ）９５点、インターナショナル・ワイン・セラー（タンザー）９４点、ワイン・エンスージアスト９６点です。
Lastly, Phelps produces a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Buckus Vineyard situated on the eastern slopes of Oakville Corridor overlooking Screaming Eagle and Rudd Estate. The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Buckus Vineyard boasts a stunningly pure nse of blueberries and blackberries with notions of toast and flowers in the background. The floral nature of the fruit only adds to the wine’s complexity. Full-bodied but civilized, this wine’s tannins can be borderline rustic, but that’s not an issue with this glorious, full-bodied, opulent 2007 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. The stunning 2010 Insignia, which is now in bottle, was made from 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot and the rest Merlot and Malbec. 11,600 cases were produced, and it achieved 14,9% natural alcohol. A gorgeously intense bouquet of lead pencil shavings, spring flowers, black currants, blackberries, and subtle smoke and foresty aromas jumps from the glass of this full-bodied, rich, concentrated wine with soft tannins, a multidimensional mouthfeel, and a long, rich finish displaying well-integrated acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood.
